Early this month I was honored by the opportunity to host my own DIY event at West Elm St. Louis. As a blogger, a DIYer and a planner, this has been a goal of mine for quite some time. It may be little to some, but to me, even though the event was small, it was still such a wonderful and fun opportunity. I remember when I saw the girls from The Everygirl speak at the Apple Store on Michigan Avenue in Chicago earlier this year (you can read more about that here), one quote that they said really stuck in my head: “When Apple calls, you come running. When J. Crew calls, you come running.” So yes indeed, when a brand that I adore, ie. West Elm, contacted me, my immediate reaction was ABSOLUTELY (and I really hope this leads to other incredible opportunities such as this in the future as well)! I wasn’t even sure what exactly I was going to do at the time, but I just knew it was an opportunity that I simply could not pass up. West Elm initially contacted me through Instagram (have I ever mentioned how much I love social media!? ) when I was making tissue tassels for big balloons for an event early this fall. I thought that I would do some variation of the tassels seeing as I have been playing around a lot with that this year (and it’s one of my favorite DIY’s…inexpensive, simple and so cute for just about anything!). I decided to theme it toward holiday decor for a fun gathering, and it was in collaboration with West Elm’s ‘Party in a Box‘ kit. I’ll have a tutorial on some of the different variations early next year, but in the meantime, here are a few photos from the event. Happy holidays, and if you don’t hear much from me in the meantime, I’ll be enjoying the holidays with my family, and I hope you’ll be doing the same. Otherwise, I’ll see you in 2014, and we’ll be kicking off the new year with our first January wedding in less than two weeks!
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
